In 2016, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) announced its collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to increase both the types of activities that can offer lifelong learning and self-assessment (Part 2) of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and to expand the types of associated assessment mechanisms.

Continuing education often results in the largest measureable changes when it addresses an ongoing public health crisis at the local level. Tailoring content to meet specific needs and developing strategies to overcome situation-specific treatment barriers are among the most difficult, and yet the most rewarding, challenges for CE providers and supporters to undertake.
