Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions (06/14/22) Gascon, Gregg M.; Chen, Huey T.; Morosanu, Liliana; et al.

An assessment of the Physicians Leadership Academy — a 10-month program that includes integrated leadership seminars, mindfulness training, and executive coaching — shows that evaluators developed a continuous feedback loop evaluation framework in response to stakeholders' need for continuous improvement. The program's mindfulness and well-being mechanisms, as well as knowledge development, emotional intelligence, and personal/professional growth, were evaluated using a single-group pretest/posttest design. A combination of published and administrator-developed assessments were used to address the program's novel aspects, ensuring the program's continuous improvement and sustainability. The results indicate the participants exhibited substantial curriculum-wide engagement, as well as improved mindfulness and capacity to impact their healthcare system and communities. "The utility of the program was demonstrated through quantitative and qualitative analyses," the authors conclude.
