BMC Medical Education (03/26/2024) Khorammakan, R.; Roudbari, S.H.; Omid, A.; et al.

A recent study sought to determine the extent to which electronic education based on web application, leveled and personalized could help operating room nurses increase their knowledge. In all, 36 nurses from operating rooms were assessed to measure their general knowledge, plus knowledge of heart anatomy, the principles of movement, transferring and positioning the patient in the operating room, and the principles of ergonomics in the operating room. Electronic training courses on these topics were then administered, followed by a post-intervention assessment and satisfaction questionnaire. Overall, the nurses' average knowledge scores and specialized training scores increased substantially after the intervention, and nearly two-thirds expressed satisfaction with the electronic learning course. "Based on the results of this study," the researchers conclude, "the use of an electronic education approach based on the needs of operating room nurses can be used as a complementary tool to conventional continuous education."
