Effects of a Tiered Competence-Based Simulation Educator Development Program

The impact of a tiered competence-based simulation educator development program on knowledge, competence and attitudes was explored and defined. The study, which used a one-group pretest–posttest model, included a convenience sample of 65 nursing simulation educators completing a self-administered questionnaire. Basic, intermediate and advanced-level training courses were implemented. According to the analysis, posttest levels of knowledge, competence and attitudes exceeded pretest levels. Simulation educators in the basic tier saw greater improvements in perceived competence compared with intermediate course participants. The authors determined that the tiered competence-based simulation educator model enhanced educators' knowledge, competence and attitudes throughout all course levels.
