ACCME Call for Comment on Digital Data Management in CME

ACCME Highlights (02/22/23)

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) is soliciting comments from accredited providers on ways to simplify digital data management of CME credits. "Creating a hub of centralized CME credit data creates a streamlined and transparent system to ensure accurate, reliable and seamless data flows that reduce the burden on the physician and the licensing boards while augmenting the value of accredited CME," the council noted in a statement. ACCME wants input on how to ensure the system's maximum adoption by all providers for universal advantage. Topics the council hopes to address include the changes required to guarantee that accredited providers can report learner credit data as easily and efficiently as possible; how ACCME can support providers to give physicians a complete record of their credit data; the lead time necessary should ACCME require reporting all CME credit into the system for all activities; and the content taxonomy and tagging framework needed to disclose activities while keeping the provider's burden to a minimum.
